On Wed 31 May Jon Hayes and Scott Sharman attended the national Launch of the Going into goats: Profitable producers' best practice guide where Jon delivered a presentation on global trends in product integrity and production specification for goat producers.

With worldwide demand for goat meat expected to continue its rapid climb the Going into goats manual will form an important tool in assisting Australia maintain its position as the largest goat meat export in the world. Even with its rapid export growth, Australia will still be short of meeting the global demand for goat, which in the US alone is forecast to undergo 11.7pc compound growth through to at least 2008.

Australia now has 92pc of the US goat meat market, feeding a Hispanic population tipped to be larger than the nation's African-American population within the next few years.

Australia currently exports 18,000 tonnes of goat meat, worth $77 million.
