Steve Martyn

Steve has been involved in various aspects of the meat industry for 30 years with stints in the United States from 1981-1984 for the Australian Meat & Livestock Corporation (AMLC), and as CEO for the AMLC's Middle East Office in Bahrain from 1989 to 1993. He returned to Sydney in 1994 as Deputy and then General Manager, Beef Marketing in AMLC, Sydney with a specific focus on North Asia.
Steve was directly involved in the development and implementation of the Fresh Australian Range Lamb Program (FARL) in the US in the 1980's, and in the development of the Voluntary Standards (VSS) beef grading scheme for Japan in the mid-90's.
Steve left the AMLC in 1998 and worked with the Australian Pork Corporation establishing the initial framework and structure for the industry-driven Pork Export Initiative known as the Confederation of Australian Pork Exporters.
Steve joined the Australian Meat Council (AMC) in April 1999 as General Manager and then CEO, overseeing the final negotiation of the merger of AMC Ltd with NMAA to form the AMIC in 2003. He has a B.Sc.Agr from Sydney University, has completed the requirements for a Meat Inspector's Certificate and has completed various management and marketing courses at NSW University and the Harvard Business School in Boston.

John graduated as a Bachelor of Veterinary Science from the University of Queensland in 1982. He was in private practice in Victoria for a number of years as well as being involved with several disease eradication and live export contracts with various State Governments as well as private enterprise.
John joined AQIS in 1994 as an on-plant veterinary officer. He rose quickly in seniority and responsibility within AQIS and upon completing an MBA in International Agribusiness in 1997 was appointed Agricultural Advisor to the then Minister for Agriculture, Fisheries & Forestry, Mr Warren Truss MP.
John was appointed Manager of the AQIS Meat Program in 2001. He left AQIS in 2005 to take up his current position as Veterinary Counsel with the Australian Meat Industry Council.
Conrad Blaney
Technical Mamager
Conrad graduated from Melbourne University with a Bachelor of Science in 1996.
Conrad has worked in the food processing industry since 1987 starting his career with the Dairy Farmers Group. During his employment with Dairy Farmers, he attained a Diploma in Dairy Technology from the Victorian College of Agriculture and Horticulture.
Throughout his career at Dairy Farmers Conrad held numerous management positions responsible for production, quality and the environment within the groups' national operations. Prior to leaving the group Conrad was responsible for managing the implementation of a Centralised Farm Milk Testing and Payment facility in response to the industry's deregulation in 2000 and played a key role with the implementation of SAP during 2000 and 2001.
In 2001 Conrad joined the Goodman Fielder Group with senior responsibilities for quality management in their national baking division. In 2003 he joined the Australian Meat Industry Council as the Technical Manager.
